The Markets Committee Verification and Enforcement Task Group will be hosting a presentation (click here to download) by Dr. Rob Gemmill of the Environment Agency for England and Wales regarding monitoring, reporting and verification in the EU ETS.

Short Biography - Dr. Rob Gemmill: 

Rob Gemmill has a degree in Chemistry and a PhD (in Rocket Science: “The Corrosion of Aluminium in Inhibited Red Fuming Nitric Acid”).  He has worked for the Environment Agency for England and Wales for over fifteen years and before that with British Coal’s Coal Research Establishment where he first specialised in emissions monitoring.  He is currently a Technical Advisor in the Releases Team of the Agency’s National Monitoring Services. Since 2003, a large proportion of his time has been spent  providing specialist support on monitoring, reporting and verification issues and systems associated with the EU Emissions Trading Scheme. This includes to Agency policy and implementation colleagues, other UK Regulators, relevant Government Departments and to Europe.  He is the lead of the UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) EU ETS MRV workstream.
